> what we keep, and why. last changed 20 August 2026.
Cauldron Development LLC d/b/a Audio Freaks runs this shop. There is one person behind it, so when this says “we” it mostly means him.
WHAT WE COLLECT
- When you buy something — your email address, and a shipping address if a pedal has to physically reach you. Card details go straight to Stripe and never touch our servers; we see the last four digits and nothing more.
- If you make an account — your email, and whatever you signed in with. Passwords are held by Clerk, not by us.
- When you activate a plug-in — a one-way hash of an identifier from your computer, never the identifier itself. It is enough to recognise the same machine twice and useless as a record of your hardware. We also store whatever name your computer reports, so you can tell your machines apart on your own account page.
- If you join the mailing list — your email address, and nothing else.
WHAT WE DO NOT DO
There are no advertising trackers on this site, no analytics profiling you across the internet, and nothing is sold or handed to data brokers. Buying something does not put you on the mailing list — that needs a separate tick box, and if you untick it nothing happens.
WHO ELSE SEES IT
Only the companies that make the shop work, and only the part each one needs:
Stripe takes the payment — name, email, card details, billing and shipping address
Clerk runs accounts and sign-in — email, password or social login
Neon hosts the database — orders, licences, activations
Vercel hosts the site and the files — server logs, downloads
Resend sends email — email address, what was sent
HOW LONG
Orders are kept for as long as the tax people expect, which is years, not months — that is not a choice we get to make. Licences and activations last as long as the licence does, because that is what makes your plug-in keep working. Mailing list entries go the moment you unsubscribe.
WHAT YOU CAN ASK FOR
A copy of everything we hold on you, a correction, or deletion. If you are in the UK or EU those are rights under GDPR; in California under the CCPA; everywhere else we will do it anyway because it would be strange not to.
Email hello@mail.audiofreaks.io and say what you want. One caveat worth being straight about: deleting your order history means we can no longer prove you bought anything, so your downloads and licences go with it.
COOKIES
The bag remembers what you put in it using your own browser's storage, which never leaves your machine. Signing in sets a session cookie from Clerk. Stripe sets its own during checkout, for fraud checks. There is no advertising cookie on this site, which is why there is no banner asking you to accept one.
WHERE YOUR DATA LIVES
On servers in the United States. If you are ordering from the EU or the UK, that is a transfer out, and it happens under the standard contractual clauses our providers operate.
GETTING IN TOUCH
hello@mail.audiofreaks.io
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and anyone on the mailing list hears about it.
